Code of Conduct

Expectations – Cork Youth Climbing Club Members

As a member you are encouraged to be open at all times and to share any concerns or complaints that you may have, about any aspect of the club, with our Child Welfare Officers.


  • Be safe and happy

  • Be respected and treated fairly

  • Participate on an equal basis, appropriate to your ability

  • Experience competition and the desire to win

  • Be protected from abuse by other members or outside sources

  • Ask for help, be listened to and believed

  • Be referred to professionals for help if needed

  • Privacy


  • Listen carefully and follow all instructions from your coach

  • Keep within the defined boundary of the climbing/coaching area

  • Take care of all climbing equipment

  • Wear club t-shirt at all training nights and climbing competitions
  • Be friendly and particularly welcoming to new members

  • Be supportive and committed to other team members and offer comfort when required

  • Not push others into something they do not want to do

  • Challenge any bullying

  • Report inappropriate behaviour or risky situations

  • Compete within the rules and respect the officials and their decisions

Misdemeanors and general misbehaviour will be addressed by the coach and reported verbally to the Child Welfare Officers. Persistent misbehaviour may result in dismissal from the club. Parents will be informed at all stages.

Dismissals can be appealed with final decisions taken by the club committee or referred to Mountaineering Ireland if appropriate.
