Success at YCS 2012 Ozone Belfast

On the 21st April, members of the Cork Youth Climbing Club went to the final of the YCS in Belfast to compete with 80 other climbers from around Ireland. This event marked the culmination of a series that began in the Mardyke in Cork on the 25th February. To all of our young climbers who came and climbed their hearts out we want to say that you played an absolute blinder. To you the parents who stood, watched, helped, roared encouragement and drove the considerable distance from Cork, Thank You.

All in all we came away with 8 finalists who have the chance to go on to represent Ireland at the grand final in Ratho, Edinburgh on the 23rd June. This is a considerable achievement for the club and we are rightfully proud of all our young climbers, who came to Belfast not only to compete, but also to meet up with people of their age and share in their passion for climbing.

The series may have concluded in Ireland but we would like to express our thanksfor the continued support of the continued support of Mardyke who graciously donated spot prizes when the YCS rolled into town for the first of the two southern legs.

All in all it was a fun series and we look forward to our continued involvement in it.

And by the way, that is Ratho in the pic below. Big isn't it.
