Coaches

At CYCC we have been lucky to have many gifted mentors and coaches to work with us over the last few years. We are deeply grateful for their time and commitment. In early 2017, a formal coaching program was spear-headed by one of our founding members (thanks Richard!) and for the last two seasons we have benefited greatly from some original members, now accomplished climbers in their own right, returning to coach the younger climbers & providing invaluable mentoring under the oversight of our experience Head Coach.

Filip Vilain (Head Coach)

Lloyd (Climbing Coach, Strength and Conditioning Coach)

Judith (Coach)

Alexi (Coach)

Victor (Coach)

Dave (Coach)

Tiernan (Coach)

Tom (Coach)

Ellen (Coach)

We are very thankful to Richard Cussen who is a founding member of our club and launched the coaching programme in early 2017. Onwards and upwards!

Outdoor Events

The club is lucky to have the mentorship of experienced climbers who have lead various outdoor climbing trips. These have included trips to Ballykeefe in County Kilkenny, the Gap of Dunloe and the Burren, to name a few.

In 2020, the club partnered with John Healy who has a long-standing affilliation with CYCC. John runs a successful outdoor activity company that specialises in climbing & mountaineering. Outdoor trips with John Healy were held at Knockadoon (East Cork), The Gap of Dunloe and Ballyrian (Co Clare).

Mountainering Ireland has also partnered with the club for outdoor climbing events. Our teenage climbers have traveled to both Glendalough and The Burren for trad climbing training. These were overnight stays during which they learned valuable skills and also had a lot of fun.
